let's face it though Anders Frisk was a rubbish ref anyway.. you have to call into question any ref who puts on fake suntan before a match.. he just wonders all over the pitch like a prima donna and enjoys giving cards so he can get into the spotlight.. he never should have been on the UEFA ref's list anyway

TigaSefi 14-03-2005 11:51

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Indeed Frisk was a poor referee but you can't force ppl out of a job like that. He should have been struck off by UEFA.

A Lancashire derby would be even better. I cannot believe the idiots at the FA are playing both semis over the same weekend. It spoils the special occasion of the Final, and just imagine four sets of supporters in Cardiff on the same weekend.:disturbd:

I have to agree with you about the having 4 sets of supporters in the same area. :disturbd:

They tried this before, at Wembley and no-one really liked it. That was one of the things about getting to the final, was the special, one-off trip to Wembley/Cardiff. :(

everyone talks about the FA Cup be devalued at the moment but then the FA have done the same thing by doing this and making 2 trips to the final venue just to get a bigger crowd in

You forgot Rochdale AFC. I'm allowed to support any one I chose at my age.

PS. I watched the FA Cup Final when Forest beat Luton, I was supporting Forest then, it's no big deal to support various clubs, I cheered when Liverpool & Forest won the European Cups in the past.

"Blue hell" do you know something we don't ?

Tell me where it is written " thou shalt support one club and one club only, forsaking all others" . I am a football fan first and foremost, and for various reasons over the years have developed an affection for several clubs. As well as Man Utd, Oldham Athletic & Rochdale AFC. I take a keen interest in Blackburn Rovers for no other reason than that the first football shirt I ever owned was a Blue & White, Rovers shirt.:)

BTW how did the mighty Kris Commons do last night.:p:

No, he got it from WWE wrestling ;)

I live near Swansea. I've lived here since I was 8. Before that I lived in Manchester for 6 years, hence I support United.

Up until I was about 19, I couldn't get to see many of their games (I probably managed about 8 in 11 years) because of my age and the distance. So in that time I took an interest in my local team, the Swans.

So I support 2 teams. If they played each other.....it would be difficult as I tend to back the underdog but thankfully, they don't play each other often :D

Commons had flu last night and almost collapsed about 5 mins after coming on. He did well to last the 30 and played well considering, shouldn't have taken the pen anyway, but slipped on the run-up. He did win it though.

As for the flu line, well practically our whole squad's had it including Gerrard on saturday which explains the 6-0 somewhat. 10 players missing last night, for various reasons but mainly flu, that side was just a bunch of kids and they did us ****ing proud.

Considering the circumstances I would have taken a draw before and they've done us ****ing proud in the circumstances, shame we couldn't have won as we were the better side.

Well, Mouriniho has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

I can can't believe he has... I think people are over-singing it to try and attack him because he is so successful and controversial. I can't see how his comments aren't anything but an integral part of the game.

Erm no. We were written off and we still in it :D

Anyways my point is that the system we have in the champions league works very well. Top your group and you'll get a nice weaker team. Don't top it and you'll be with the best of the best. Manchester went out because they were inferior to AC Milan. It happens. Real Madrid went out to Juventus because they couldn't string two passes together. If there wasn't so much money in it these days, this comment wouldn't be said.

The problem is Manchester has something like 52% profit fall so they obviously trying to find any way to make it up. And that easier opponents. Laughable really......

Real Madrid

All nice weak teams there eh.

Though I do agree, all this talk of seeding is rubbish. Man Utd weren't good enough to beat Milan so they should be looking at ways to improve, not at ways to change the tournament.

I remember going up there during the old southern league days which used to be good, but it will be sad to see them lose their league status, the club is being run by a bunch of muppets so it is time for a big clear out in my opinion, if it remains in existance that is.

Surprise, Surprise. The student who said Rooney decked him has withdrawn his complaint.

Quote:

Today a spokesman for Rooney said the allegations had been "a fabrication from start to finish''.

He said: "We are entirely unsurprised that Mr Hanrahan has retracted his allegations.

"They were a fabrication from start to finish presumably timed to create a distraction in the run-up to an important England game.''

The striker's lawyers are still considering whether to take legal action against the student and The Sun.

how well does everyone think we will do tonight..

poland beat Azerbeijan 8-0 but I don't think we will have as much luck.. I read that as they lost 8-0 they will be playing with alot of their Under 21 squad instad as they don't have much to loose.. i think we might get 3 or 4-nil

strange comments from Sven that he can't understand why people are criticising Beckham.. maybe he hasn't been watching the last few England games..

he also said he would be happy with 1-0.. i wouldn't.. in the long run could be better for England to exit the WC early then Sven might get the sack

N Ireland Nil were beat again. What's the point in having a national team that has no hope of ever winning or scoring for that matter? The sooner they merge with the south of Ireland the better.

I must have imagined the 5 goals scored by Northern Ireland so far in the World cup qualifying then.
Should Wales merge with England? After all Wales are currently below Northern Ireland in the table.

We don't do too badly for a country with a population of 1.6 million, we still hold the record as being the smallest nation to reach the World Cup quarter finals.

The main thing holding back a united Ireland football team is that the Irish FA and the Football Association of Ireland would also have to merge, something I just can't see happening.
