Same situation here: as posted a couple of days ago, although my modem was upgraded, the stable connection seemed to kick-in *before* this was done, and I think it was due to remedial work on the local / regional elements of the network. Whatever, nice to be back 100%.

*Thick mode on*

I don't know the difference between the modems 120/250 etc....looked on modem and see no numbers to help....are they colour coded or something to help establish which mine is:confused:

... not an expert by any means, but on both modems I have had, the 'ntl' number (i.e. 120 or 250) is on a label underneath the modem & also stamped on the cardboard box that the modems came in (the engineer always tells you to throw the box away, but I keep them if I need to move the rig anytime.)

The 120 was a silver colour, and the 250 is a deep blue (with lights that have icons on them, in contrast to the 120 which doesn't).

Just to round the saga off .. my B/B still up and stable .. and this morning, someone from NTL customer support rang up and asked if everything was OK!!!??? Well done for that - makes quite a difference to the way I perceive the organisation.
