As i say i've generally never had any problems at all with NTL and was just gonna bear this out. But its probably gettin to nearly a week that the conenctions been dodgy so yep, anythin that can possibly be done, that would be most apreciated :)

Ahhhh...

He's not on an oversubscribed uBR, I think he has HFC problems on the return path. Notice that pings to uBR stayed low, and routers in between may not rate pings as priority traffic. For uBR to be so oversubscribed it's dropping packets there's no chance of a steady 3 pings @ 14ms to ntlworld.

Would like to see a large number of pings to ntlworld.com or similar, use ping www.ntlworld.com -t and let it run for a bit without any action on the line, then see what happens.

IIRC re: Swansea there are Level 1 to Level 3 techs, none of the people in Swansea can change upstream IDs at all, requires privileged access to uBRs, Swansea only use Blue tools as far as I know.

Hi

There will be some work done on the Runcorn Ubr's tonight due to some problems there. It would be interesting to see what the trace routes look like in the morning.

Regards

Bill

Thanks Bill, I'll bear that in mind tomorrow when I look into this.

Re: Grrrrrr. Need some help or info plz

Being a confounded lunatic I'm VPN'd into work on the first day of my week off and can confirm my tools show no upstream congestion anywhere in Runcorn, (yes, we actually have perfectly good areas). I'd therefore suspect a local HFC issue.

Switching upstreams is something only high-level network techs (RF or IP) can do.

Hi, Bill, how's it going?
