I'm quite interested in these. Will be looking in to getting a pair some time soon. Anyone know the best place for price ?

Thanks.

There's some 'while-stocks-last' units at CPC for £19.50 each plus delivery (if the total is under £40) and VAT.

I'm not sure if these are compatible with Homeplug but it could be a cheap way to start. More details here:

Looks likie a good idea, how about if you have MULTIBLE computers, do you just by a single uniit for eac computer in the house? or does it only work in a pair?...

you would have homeplugs for each machine

One for the router and one for each computer - just as you've described.

Solwise of Hull (http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm) have good products and offer a great service.

Out of interest if i had a couple of devices i wanted to connect to a router via the homeplug system that were in close proximity could i just put the devices on a switch/hub and then connect the hub to the homeplug adaptor?

Probably not going to bother since i get a fairly decent wi-fi signal but just wandering that if i did decide to get some homeplug adaptors if i could get away with using 2 adaptors rather than say 3.

Eg

Pc + Mac + xbox > Switch/Hub1

Switch/hub1 > Homeplug1

Homeplug2 > Router.

would that work or is it 1 homeplug adaptor needed per device.

Re: Homeplug is it the solution?

the hub will work as a network switch as normal I believe

So basically the link between the switch and the router would work the same though homeplug as it would if id gone and plugged a switch directly into the back of the router (expect for the speed drop)

Yes, I've done this in my garage. A HomePlug device is in an electric socket, the ethernet lead goes into a switch, then I can have several devices (currently two) connected to the switch.
