:welcome: to the forum.

Have you called Customer Services? If not, you will need to do so.

In that case, I am confused. AFAIK, the PIN error only occures if you are trying to watch Pay Per View events.

You may be better off buying a freeview box.

Re: Pin Error E006 Please Help

hmm, it occurs on mine when i try to unlock channels that i had previously locked to prevent my children viewing, as well as when i try to change my pin, the message displays "your pin has not been activated" and says E006 at the bottom. Its the same problem that the other guys were having in this topic..

Thanks

Possibly but how are NTL going to reset your pin when you no longer subscribe to their service? As far as they are aware you no longer exist on their systems and they can't do anything to your box.

yes i understand that, but a few guys on the first page of this topic were told how to reset it themselves, so i want to try if that works out. Still waiting for someone to tell me how to do it :(

As far as I'm aware, you cant reset it yourself from the property. You need to phone up Custoemr Services. If you are not subscribed with NTL you shouldnt be using the box anyway.

have you tried Google?

you may find other forums, or pages that may explain, how you can do this, but I don't know any.

and NTL wont help you, because you are not paying for their system, it is like asking for extra warrenty on a car when your old one ran out, you have to pay for the priveledge.

ye im aware of that, but i thought itd b a good idea to ask about it in this topic as the member 'quadplay' seemed to know how to do it and PM'd two other members on how to do it, on the first page of this thread.

If you arn't paying for em your not going to be able to watch them by clearing the pin, even ntl arn't that stupid and to be perfectly honest I can't think of any channels going out free to air that you would have used the parental controls on anyway. Care to elaborate?

never you mind. Besides i dont think the channels matter here, there wont be a different procedure for different channels. I just need to know how to do it, theres obviously a way, and i aint trying to gain access to channels i dont pay for because that impossible so i aint going to try it!

Quadplay works for NTL, he may well have done the reset for them if he was posting from work that night. It could be something that cannot be done by the end user especially if they no longer take NTL services.

But to watch the free to air channels (oh and btw you do know that when you ceased service from ntl you should have returned the set top box don't you?) you don't need the PIN at all- so you don't need to know how to do it.

Discussion of anything illegal (ie theft of service) will not be discussed on Cable Forum, so let's make sure that this discussion doesn't head that way.

Re: Pin Error E006 Please Help

problem solved, thanks to someone on here with sense. the reason i havnt returnd the box is because im still technically a customer, as im using their telephone and broadband service and told them i would be resubcribing to them in the near future(in another room) as the living room is now reserved for my new sky hd subscription. They havnt asked for the stb back so i dnt know y ur all complaining about it. I dnt understand y it took nearly 24hours for some1 to give me a proper answer for my query, thanks to the person who actually helped me and every1 who knew but didnt wna give the answer can applaud themselves on thier great achievement.
