Bet those players who don’t have relegation clauses in their contracts would not enjoy that.

He may mean what used to be called Division 4 (which was the lowest level of Professional Football at the time), and the lowest level is now called League 2 (Premier League, EFL, Championship, League 1, League 2)

A relegation clause or not, being paid £100k a week to kick a ball around in the lower leagues takes some beating ;)

There is the impact on their future career. Their performance cannot be properly judged, so their value goes down.

If they are relegated, they’ll be subject to EFL rules rather than EPL, which are a lot tighter on the financial side, while the expensive players will want to play at the top level to stand a chance of representing their country. That could lead to an exodus of players who get £100k+.

When Rangers were relegated in 2012, it took years for them to recover.

I don't follow lower leagues, I thought it was Division 2

Looks like Real might be interested in getting him on the cheap.
