That’s not how it works…

You’re (apparently) confusing resolution with screen size and/or font size.

That's not how it works. You get far more screen real estate in which to display stuff and it looks sharper and clearer. You can still go to control panel and increase text size.

I am fairly partially sighted and have no issues with high resolutions. It doesn't get smaller just sharper and clearer.

Not really, unless you change your monitor for a bigger one then 800x600 is going to look much bigger than 1920x1080.

Even on my 24" monitor, the text on 1920x1080 is too small for me, I have to increase it to [Medium] 125%.
