That makes it sound that he (and five others) voted for McCarthy - they didn’t, they voted "Present"; this lowered the the threshold for a Majority from 218 to 216 (to win the Speakership, a candidate needs a majority of all members who are voting for a candidate).

It reminded me of the fiasco we had when trying to sort out the deal to leave the EU.
