Heads up: Create and Craft may close by April on Virgin Media.

Base on info I saw online last year [link no longer online] Hochanda deal with Virgin Media is up this year (around March/April time).

Virgin's deal with Create & Craft was set to be up before April 2023 before Hochanda took them last year.

I have no idea on what may happen to ex-sister channel Ideal World via Virgin Media.

It's very difficult for the smaller channels to be on Virgin due to the cost. Out of all the platforms, Virgin is the least cost effective, which is why so many are missing.

Shopping channels receive none of the subscription money, in fact they have to pay to be on the platform. To make it financially viable a minimum number of extra sales have to be generated by being on cable.

Seen a claim that Ideal World will be closing on Virgin on the 17th Do these two channels have any connection?

Probably more a case of shopping channels not being able to compete with online only retailers which don't have the same overheads.

The original Ideal World owners sold Create & Craft to Hochanda and later disposed of the Ideal World business to its new owners. Perhaps the new owners acquired the legacy contracts but don't want to renew them, that might explain the timing.

I have found out the claim was started on "Shopping Telly" on Tuesday. with a following post:

Just went to Ideal World and a banner came up and said it was closing on 17th January.

Watching IW right now - with no banner.

Would it be an "Ideal World" if there were no shopping channels ? :jk:

According to VM, Yesterday+1 and Drama+1 are now available in HD on 217 and 226:

It is, of course, yet another mistake. Only the main versions of these channels are available in HD on 129 and 130.
