Re: 5th Upstream
Someone near me (but not on my segment) says he had the 3.1 US channel added earlier this year but then got removed again and never seen since.

A staff member responded on the community and said he is going to look into it, so might not need to go further up the chain, hopefully he comes back with a meaningful answer.

Re: 5th Upstream
Ok got a response from VM.
The hub site is 50mhz spec and the spectrum isnt available in my area for a 3.1 channel, it wont be coming in 2023, of course given at some point a stop will be put on DOCSIS, I am assuming at this point it means no. So this I guess confirms the 3.1 US is not going to be universal around the country. Given this isnt nationwide, I wonder the implications of potential gig1 upload speed boosts, as a 100mbit bump wouldnt be viable on just 4 3.0 channels. |
Re: 5th Upstream
Mine was 64 qam for 1-4 but 32qam for 5. After a reboot all are 64qam except for 3 which is 16qam. Docsis30.

Re: 5th Upstream
HUB 4 rebooted itself 10mins ago, now have 6 Upstream Channels in total with 5x 3.0 and 1x 3.1.

Re: 5th Upstream
Well well, despite the assuring explanation I got from VM as to why I wouldnt be seeing 3.1 on the upstream for at least a year.
I noticed when checking my hub logs that I now have a 3.1 channel, and now also the 5th 3.0 channel. Upstream evening congestion seems to be gone 54mbit upload at 7.30pm and graph looking consistent for the entire day. Re: 5th Upstream
The 3.1 channel is still serving me well. A couple of nights ago, my Hub5 was remotely rebooted by VM (according to its logs), and since then has been noise on my upstream with QAM rotating between QAM16 and QAM32 on all 5 3.0 channels.
However still good performance, looks like the 3.1 channel is handling the short fall on the 3.0 channels well. Reported on the VM forums shortly after it started, and will see if they respond. |
Re: 5th Upstream
Think my 3.1 channel is having issues, lots of t3 timeout errors, but because the hub5 doesnt show the channel status I dont know if the channel is coming back online or not, but the log is flooded with it.

Re: 5th Upstream
Well they tried, what happens if it fails, do they swap out the unit?
