I got my 2017 MacBook Pro back from being repaired yesterday and this is more what I was expecting and hoping for…

Sweet. I got a new Galaxy S21 yesterday and was looking forward to doing a speedtest hoping it would give me max speed but it still won't budge over 500mbits. I probably need a new router.

The specs of the phone (Xiaomi Poco F3) it says AC, it's also wifi 6, but I'll need a compatible wifi connection to test that. A hub 5 would be nice.

Must be a limitation on my router then. I'll be getting a new one when i upgrade to 1gbit to handle the increased throughput.

That will hopefully make a big difference. I'll probably have to wait for the next speed increase before they offer me the latest hub, I've no idea when that might be.

Just to say, mon General, my ASUS RX88U tops out at around 860 Mbps on my iPhone 11 Max Pro. The wired laptop connexion gets up to around 980Mbps. There's only 1 Gbps coming out of the Hub 4 and then there's whatever overheads imposed by modem mode and the router.

I haven't yet experimented with the Hub 4 in router mode - I will one day.

I've just had my connection upgraded to Gig1 and also have the asus r7800 router.

I'm seeing a max of 750Mbit on speedtests though.

Is the only way to prove this to go back to router mode on the hub4 and do the same test?

Test wired on https://speedtest.samknows.com/ on your R7800 as another test

That one shows 656Mbps download.

I've put the shub back in router mode and run the samknows test. It shows full speed to the shub, so I can only assume that the issue is with the r7800 :(

Time to shop for a new router then I guess.

good to know thanks. When they get around to making it available in my area I'll do some proper research and see which is the best option to go for. I have found a couple I like but I haven't got £450 for a router atm. I'll be looking at £250 max.
