Re: Firefox 29
When Firefox first updated on my computer, it looked so much like Chrome that I had to check it was still using the Gecko engine (it is).
Installed the Classic Theme Restorer but having played around with the extension's options for a while, decided I really don't mind the new UI. The extension has been used for altering the tab appearance a bit but I'm wondering if I might not actually need it. With 4 extensions installed and 3 tabs open, Firefox 29 is using 266Mb of memory. Out of interest, I totted up how much Chrome uses with all of its separate processes. With the same number of tabs and 5 extensions, it came out at 275Mb. About the same as Firefox. |

Who needs 24Gb of RAM?
I just updated Firefox on my Macbook Pro and have already reverted back. Don't like the new layout at all. |

Quite right, I considered 24, then thought it was too meagre, so I went with 32 ;) |

Hell, even 7zip uses 45GB to compress files with maximum settings. The side effect being you can do just about anything else you want without worrying about running out. Plus given how cheap it was (when I bought it... costs twice as much today) and the fact a lack of RAM is often the biggest thing slowing down a computer, more is always better. |
Re: Firefox 29
I have 8gb on my Macbook Pro with an i7 cpu. Sometimes run vmware with win7.

Re: Firefox 29
Good luck running multiple development or server VMs with 8-16GB RAM each...
