“We are really exploring what the future, the next version of 24 might be, maybe in more anthological storytelling. … I think that partly what is exciting is, we’re opening up the possibility of it being anything where that 24-hour clock is at the most critical period of a story, so I don’t want to limit them. It can only be an action-oriented show, maybe not. It can only be an emotional thing. The opportunity is for them to think their biggest thoughts.”

FOX Entertainment chief David Madden added that the new series might not be set at the CTU:

“The same kind of ticking clock format and apply it to something else. It will have the same urgency but may not be set in the CTU, it will have same style and urgency but in a different venue.”

Now, FOX has given a script commitment to a new 24 reboot from Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, and Jeremy Doner. Few details about the project have been revealed, but Deadline reports the pilot “centers on a female prosecutor who uncovers a legal conspiracy and has to work against the clock to save a death row inmate facing imminent execution whom she had helped prosecute but may be innocent.”

You would think they'd have learned their lesson from the last 24 reboot. No Jack no watch.

Yeah, and this doesnt even sound like 24 as we know it (terrorist and law enforcement stuff), it sounds more like a legal drama with a sense of urgency and it is being done in the 24 format as an added twist.

Will Kiefer Sutherland join FOX’s new 24 spinoff? Recently, FOX Television Group boss Gary Newman discussed the network’s plans for their Jack Bauer prequel series, Deadline reports.

“There are no discussions about whether or not he will have any kind of role. He’s aware of it, and he’d be an executive producer and is excited about the idea.”

Flipping get Kiefer back, he is free now Designated Survivor has been cancelled. A good amount of time has passed since the series was cancelled so we can have Jack settled down in life out in the countryside somewhere relaxing and enjoying life and there is some catastrophe and imminent threat going on in Washington and the President calls him back to help out. He is given carte blanche at CTU/FBI etc and can do things how he wants to get the job done. I would love it.

I would love a proper full length 24 season with Kiefer back that would be awesome, i don't want anything rushed like the last Game of Thrones season.
