I wonder how it came across, or would come across to the most PC parent in the world. when and if they were to receive that letter and threat?

another thing is the charge of £5. it's like people say she wanted to take them there. and there's bound to be some parents who can't afford the £5.
and what if they were to come up with something everyday. demanding £5 and £10 a time.
how's a normal family supposed to fund it all the time?

We must bow down to Islamists. Islam is not a religion it is a satanic cult, killing in the name of their god, how satanic is that? And why are politics accepting this?

I'd let my kids go on the trip (and want them to) but I'd also inform them about:
Quote:

2013.11.23 (Tuz Khurmatu, Iraq) - A suicide attack on a Shia mosque leaves nine worshippers dead.
2013.11.22 (Karachi, Pakistan) - A child is among seven killed in a bomb blast by Tehreek-e-Taliban suicide bombers at a shopping area.
2013.11.21 (Saadiyah, Iraq) - Mujahideen blow up an outdoor vegetable market with a truck bomb, taking out over thirty patrons, including children.
2013.11.20 (Bayaa, Iraq) - A Shahid suicide bomber wades into an Internet cafe and detonates, sending fifteen souls to Allah.
2013.11.20 (Baghdad, Iraq) - Sunni bombers murder seven people preparing food for a Shia observance.
2013.11.20 (Miranshah, Pakistan) - Seven people are killed when a Fedayeen suicide bomber rams their car.
I can go on for a decade or two back in time. The death toll is quite worrying.....

There's no reason to suggest the objectivity of the trip wouldn't be balanced - that side of Islam may well be included in the learning.

Why? The letter only specifies looking at artefacts. Which is odd considering the 2012 event sounds like it had more relevant educational goals.
Quote:

Learn about Islamic beliefs, values, morals and manners
Follow the route of the pilgrimage
Find out about life in a Muslim home
The exhibition is especially suitable for pupils in Key Stages 2 and 3
All that in 2 hours.

Struggling to find anything specific about the 2013 event.

Swansea University has a well-respected Egyptian artefact museum and when I was 15 my class went along as part of a project we were doing about Ancient Egypt.

From memory it was informative and I included a lot of what I saw in the project I handed in. Up until then I had no real idea of anything about those times and cultures other than what I'd read in books.

Schoolkids go on trips like these all the time. I fail to see the problem other than the suggestion that a 'racial' note would be placed on the files.

I think if they're going to be taught/educated about Islam. then you have to include the really bad bits of it too. don't make it look all rosey.
they don't miss out the bad bits when it comes to the World Wars.

after all, the 'malfunctioning' ones do all their bad things in the name of Islam.
and brushing it over with "oh, they're just an exception" is lying to the kids.

Finally a post that makes sense from you.

There is indeed some staggering ignorance about Islam these days and balanced education will go a long way to ensure future generations don't turn out to be clones of the EDL.

I agree. You only need to look East to see what it is really like.

Whole areas of Kenya are now closed to non Muslims since the Somalians have started flooding in for example. I think an awful lot of what is happening in Africa is not being reported

Exactly. seeing artefacts could only be about time, place and culture and nothing to with any religion. Even looking at religious artefacts wouldn't tell you anything about the religion itself. This was meant to be a trip in connection with the "National Religious Education Curriculum".

Utter utter rubbish. I can only assume you have never been on any kind of trip to see ancient or religious artefacts.

Ancient Egyptians used to worships cats, sun gods etx, were you aware of that?

They'll have to tell them about Mohammed, then?
