It could well be, but one of the rumours I saw on here suggested Netflix could have channel 414 so as those with V+HD boxes could access it too. Time will tell soon enough though. :)

That is totally contrary to what was put on the website yesterday which a number of us saw. It said 6 months free which, in my opinion, seems far more likely.

Perhaps Netflix will be free for the first six months for XL customers.

This would give XL customers extra perceived value (people often tend to look at the 'free' headline news and not worry too much about the fact that it's time limited).

VM/Netflix may then hope that either due to customers finding the service invaluable and/or inertia, that they won't cancel when the service becomes chargeable.

Well I'm a virgin viewer and I saw the website yesterday.

Are we really starting rumours based on " an Virgin Viewer" now?

I'm pretty sure that it will have an EPG number and will be a portal channel in the same way that Tiddlers TV will be.

Is that even possible with a V+ box? I didn't think it was technically capable of streaming videos in this way directly from the internet.

6 months free on XL would be immense as i'd probably have watched everything i'd have wanted in that time...

winning :)

kind of incline to agree, similar to the Youtube channel having a channel number but V+HD cant access it, although saying that BBCi Player red button is technically doing the same but im sure someone more qualified than me can confirm this :)

BBC iPlayer on the TiVo gets the streams from the BBC direct, on the other boxes it's from the Virgin servers.. sorry not technical but am sure thats how it works.

I don't know how it will be done technically, but I imagine that it will be like TV Choice, where it will say 'subscribed' for XL customers for the first six months. After the free period the content will become unavailable until the appropriate fee is paid, or, perhaps the content will be offered on a PPV basis.

Does the online Netflix offering allow for standalone purchases for individual programmes/films??

That's not at all how Netflix works unfortunately. Or the V+. So I'm afraid I agree with the others that say that Netflix will only be available through the TiVo.

Despite what I've said above, VM may indeed go down the route of the the VM Youtube channel in another step to try to get customers to switch to TiVo. But, is this as important now that Horizon is on the horizon so to speak ?? :D

Because VM are signed up to the Netflix CDN, as I understand it, VM have a direct link to Netflix content servers. Whether that would enable Netflix to be added to V+ I don't know. I guess it could be a lot of work if it is possible, and I doubt they would want to anyway, as Netflix would be another incentive for customers to move away from V+ to Tivo, which is VM's aim.

Bloody Hell, another volume? Time flies don't it when there is so much to speculate on. One of the first pages I visit each day.
