(Make sure you have an alternative Firewall though).

Thats the thing, I have tried all the major ones and I find Norton to be the best :/

The only time I will be changing my current setup is when a new speed package from VM requires me too :)

Since upgrading my router from the superhub to a TP-Link W8980 all i get is a sea of red on my graph (used to work before, so obviously its to do with the router). I have searched online but to no avail, I cant seem to find anything on any of the settings of the router to allow ICMP pings. Any boffins about????

I'm going to do a clean install of Win 8.1 tomorrow and before I load Norton onto it I will give the monitor a go to see if it works :)

Your IP will have changed so you need to set up a new monitor if you haven't already.

Also given that that is an ADSL2 router you shouldn't really be posting in a 120Mb Cable thread.

If you are actually on cable, then you should take the router back and get a refund.

Qas I am on cable mate and the router supports cable (even though it is described as an ADSL router), wireless range, ping, throughput speeds are through the roof (even though I am only on the 30mb service). Cheers for the tip ref the ip address, I will try and set a new monitor up and see what happens.

Yep creating a new monitor sorted it!!! :tu:

If you're on cable then as I say, take the router back for a refund. You've paid double what you should have for an extra feature (ADSL2+) that you will never use. The non-ADSL2 version is cheaper and has identical speed and range.

My fault mate as a) I've opened it and it works so I cant take it back and b) I am out of contract with Virgin and waiting for BT to sort themselves out and lay Infinity 2 cable to a exchange close to me. Thanks for the tip on the monitor though.

You won't need ADSL connectivity with Infinity either. You get a modem and a separate wireless router which, as it happens, also supports ADSL and well as ethernet from a modem.

infinity is VDSL not ADSL so as kwikky says, it wont work for that either

Ok cheers anyway guys, I might have paid a bit more than I needed to (£10 in the end) but V impressed so far with the router apart from setting up the USB sharing for the attached drive
