Re: superhub 2
Interesting. So has nobody got anything bad to say about it? Nice development, I'm still on an Ambit 300, if I hold out long enough, I might upgrade to this thing.

Re: superhub 2
If i had it i'd keep it in modem mode as well. I forked out some dosh for the RT-N66U and have Merlins firmware on it for some DNSMasq sorcery going on for netflix and other US only services.

Re: superhub 2
I don't know whether to be a pesimist or not. Have they listened to customer feedback and enabled modem mode from the get go to maje everyone happy or are they just covering their asses in case this one is a flop as well? :)
Either way I am not fussed, I am just glad to see because I was seriously worried they would turn around and say we didn't need a modem only mode because it has gone "through rigourous and thorough testing" and works fine. |

If its powerful enough, has better wireless range and has working firmware, it can only be a positive thing for VM customers. |

Re: superhub 2
I did have some trouble with streaming and loading office files across my LAN, but it turns out that my SH2 in full mode was struggling with the SamKnows white box (gigabit version). Now I have disconnected the box and, consequently, ended my arrangement with SamKnows, my SH2 ethernet is running sweetly. Indeed, it seems snappier than my WNDR3700 when the SH2 is in modem-only mode.
I'm not sure about the wireless yet. The SH2 reaches all the places in my property that the WNDR3700 does, but I have had more incidents of my wireless devices logging on to my neighbour's BT FON and my own attic-based FON HOT spot. Currently I have 5MHz disabled. None of my devices require it or can use it. My Xperia U android managed a download speed of 28Mb in the same room as the SH2, something never achieved with the WNDR3700. My previous best was 19Mb. |
Re: superhub 2
I have the latest SamKnows whitebox(black) and its not caused any problems on my Superhub2.
|
Re: superhub 2
Except for a couple of "incidents" I never had that many problems with the SH.
However, the SH2 has far better wireless speeds and stability for me both at 2.4 & 5ghz frequencies. For the first time I can even take my laptop into the garden and get a stable and good download speed and that is on 5ghz. A definite improvement.:) |
Re: superhub 2
This is SHS in full router mode, not as neat and tidy as in modem-only mode but when performance is not affected, why should I worry?

Perhaps my set up had some bearing on this. My SH2 is connected to three switches. Switch 1 serves 2 games systems one of which is used as a media player; Switch 2 serves my main PC, a games system and a smart TV; Switch 3 serves 3 network hard disks, a FON hot spot router and another PC. The white box being right at the hub of my network has been connected to all three switches to give SamKnows a full picture of internet - intranet traffic within my household. All three switches serve equipment that use the internet as well as my intranet. All this running through the white box may have been too much. |

My experience with the sh2 is that it is a significant improvement with regard to wireless performance and stability. Hardware life and failure rates are still to be determined of course. |
