Re: TV Anywhere App
I had a better explanation then Chrome crapped out. :(
Anyway, Sat>IP is just a technology that converts a satellite stream into a mobile/tablet friendly video feed. So you can watch any channel you have on Sky, on any device you want, anywhere. Combine that with planner sharing (the Sky name for multiroom streaming) and you can watch every recording you've made in the same way. So it beats Sky Go as you can watch every channel & your recordings plus as the feed is from your house and is only for you, shouldn't face overloading problems for popular events like Sky Go & TVCatchup do during the football. AFAIK, TiVo Stream does the same thing except it first goes through a TiVo and uses a tuner (rather than a raw satellite feed) to do the same thing as Sat>IP. --- BITW! I'm hoping to go to the TV recordings in November, hopefully they're somewhere up north. |

Re: TV Anywhere App
Indeed, ElGato (EyeTV) already have an iOS app ready, presumably Sky & pals are currently making the hardware.
--- Also just realized from your link they're called the SES which is quite coincidental. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
When will VM launch a version of TV Anywhere allowing offline content viewing as Sky Go Extra allows you now?
Really think TV Anywhere is a waste of time until they have this. After all I would like to use it as its title states – “TV Anywhere”. Feel Sky have already overtaken VM on flexible TV viewing as you don’t have to hunt for a WiFi connection. Not exactly sure how much off-line content is available through Sky Go Extra but better than nothing right now with TV Anywhere, come on VM catch up! Not quite the same but I had an example a few weeks back of the power of mobile access to TV. Was travelling back from Kings Cross to Nottingham via Grantham. While I was at Grantham station, somebody was watching the live Manchester United match on their iPad in the waiting room, he was very popular with plenty of people crowding around him to watch the match! |
Re: TV Anywhere App
I'd be happy just to be able to watch sky sports or movies on my iPad at home:(
I realise I moan about this a lot :) |

Virgin launched TV Anywhere last year, so the development cycles are different |
Re: TV Anywhere App
Sky launched on demand in 2012, Telewest launched on demand in 2005.
Laurel, I believe you are resting. |

The delivery method is completely different, as are the rights to do so Also Virgin Media, to be honest, have had quite a few more important things to do before TV Anywhere. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
Yeah like putting the prices up a few times.

What I actually meant was, combining 4 different companies, moving all cable customers onto a single billing system, creating a single TV network, replacing all TV Smartcards, switching off analogue TV, launching NGTV which then allowed more TV channels, introducing the V HD box and TiVo plus all the SD and HD channel launches that have happened in the last few years. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
Does TV Anywhere app work on iPad Mini? I ask this because when on my sisters iPad Mini she gets error A:336 when trying to stream a channel. When i goto settings and device registation error comes up and its the same error

Re: TV Anywhere App
Yes it should work, but I believe there is a current issue registering new devices with TV Anywhere. It's being investigated

Yes it should work on an i Pad mini, but not really worth it. Music and cartoon channels mainly :( |
