Doubt they'll give it to a forty year old, they didn't like the previous incumbent hanging around as long as he did imo. Anyway someone at work earlier said he wondered what he'd be addressed as from now on and came up with ex Benedict...

It'd hardly the most objective of sources and I'm kind of thinking this would have come from other sources too if it was true but....something doesn't feel quite right about his resignation.

I think I'll wait for a reputable source to print this.

I don't think that can be true at all. There is no way it wouldn't be picked up by a mainstream source.

The only thing I found was this:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/0...n_2708518.html

and it actually debunks the case. As the pope, he is head of state, and has diplomatic immunity, so he can't be prosecuted. The fact that he's resigned actually makes it possible to prosecute him, which is why he'll remain in the Vatican. The upshot is that not resigning would have been the best way to avoid arrest, and that's not what he's done.

Let's wait and see whether any reputable news outlets run the story rather than taking the word of a pressure group with an obvious axe to grind at face value. Just because they use a 'news' template to build their website, doesn't make it so ...

His involvement in covering for priests guilty of being paedophiles is not exactly hidden so wouldn't surprise me and his resignation certainly didn't make sense but if that is true makes a little more sense. For those saying staying put was the best thing for him maybe but for the catholic church to have a paedophile as pope certainly isn't and maybe his resignation wasn't all his choice. We will have to wait and see but personally my view of the catholic church cannot possibly go lower then it already is.

There is a great deal of difference between being prosecuted for child rape and being sued for his poor record on sexual abuse within the Catholic church.

The first site as Chris says has a very big axe to grind. The second does have a point of view that may just be possible.

Will wait and see what emerges on the other better researched news sites.
