Do not ring up unless you are happy to go into a new contract as acting stupid will not stop them.

knowing your terms and cons will stop 'them' though.

Yes still on staff discount and my Virgin Mobile bill is even better due to a slight error on their part, I have an S3 for
a very silly price.:D

I would not hold your breath if upgrading early and rather pointless just for a few days extra which could end up with you constantly calling to get it resolved.

I don't even think i am on a new contract, as i said it was the way the guy worded it, made no sense to me, but he said i would get a letter confirming everything anyway, i will update this thread when i get the letter.

not really pointless. if a rep tries it then an angry customer ends up calling in again to get the contract taken off and a credit would probably be applied for the hassle. VMs loss all for trying it on.

there is a different between a requested re-tier (wanting the upgrade before it is due) and rining up to find out what is going when you have been told you should have been upgraded. The op shouldnt have had to commit to a new contract.

Well that is down to Virgin Media but you should never pre-empt the free increase.

It's a fair point, why say complete when it obviously isn't, or we'd all be upgraded already.

It is complete when they say it is complete and you reboot your modem and suddenly you are on 60Mb, nothing special about that as it has happened many times over, such as 500kb to 2Mb, 4Mb to 10Mb and more recently 2Mb to 10Mb, you get your speed once the area is fully upgraded and not before.

Now if you ring up and request the uplift it will be as a new tier hence a new contract and even a possibly higher price, so why the rush when free is around the corner, you know it makes sense.

Re: 30mb to 60mb

i understand the early upgrade bit. im talking about Bolt saying its done for whatever area but some customers are still not doubled. there should be additional text to cover VM. 'your areas network has now been upgraded blah blah blah... we're working very hard to get everyone on the new double speed, please bare with us if you havent yet recieved your double'

General Maximus 30-11-2012 22:45

Re: 30mb to 60mb

if the speed doubling site or my virgin media say the area has been doubled and you should be on the increased speed then it is a done deal. Ringing up to get it manually pushed through because VM havent delivered on what they said should not result in a contract extension.

As above I would never ring up and ask for it to be manually added as it can cause confusion, why not wait a week and then just complain about it not being done to technical support because calling retentions will only get they going down the wrong route.

Mine is not due until the end of this month according to the site but I will not be ringing up if it is not done until mid January.

I agre. There have been several posts about the new config not coming down over the last couple of days and I have told everyone to wait.

Re: 30mb to 60mb

i just phoned up VM to see about the upload speed doubling + asked about my contract, apparently i am not entitled to double upload speed lol i will have to change my package to get more upload speed, i have no idea what is going on at VM but they all tell you different things lol oh and i have not been put on a new contract.

thenry 02-12-2012 16:45

Re: 30mb to 60mb

speaking to support on a Sunday is suicide. uploads will increase after the download is done. this can take a while. keep an eye on upstream > http://192.168.100.1/VmRouterStatus_upstream.asp

you should be on 2 or more when you get upload increased.

good stuff about no new contract :tu:
