Can people unhappy with the price rise cancel their subscription to SKY Sports and SKY Movies just now or do they have to wait to be notified of the price increase from Virgin first?

Your Sky prices are wrong the prices on Sky's site are the new prices

Sky World £65.75
Sky Talk £12.25
Sky unlimited BB (ADSL) £7.50
1 Multiroom box £10.25

Totals £95.75 however to be fair that doesn't include ESPN.

Add 12.50 to that total if you wanted Sky fibre 40/10 service.

If you are not in contract and have had the channels for more than 30 days then yes, you can cancel at any time with no penalty. (Pun sort-of intended ;))

It'll be safe to assume then if anyone decides to cancel either SKY Sports, SKY Movies or both together there would be no problem with them also dropping SKY HD too?

It's hard to compare , as Sky has so much more TV content including much more HD , Sky has skygo with full access on 2 devices, the 40Mb broadband is unlimited with a 10Mb upload also unlimited.

Where as virgins 50mb only has a 5Mb upload and it has STM limits. You pay for what ya get as they say. But Sky is about to become even better so keep an eye out :)

If you drop sports and movies on virgin there is no need for you to pay the HD charge for the few channels they have.

You mean the HD versions of Sports/Movies? Yes. I don't think you can get them without subscribing to the Packs anyway. Can you? :confused:

Of course, the reality is that not only are the majority of the major HD channels already available on VM they don't cost you any more than your normal monthly sub unlike Sky who will charge you £10 pm. Also, don't forget that more HD channels will be appearing in September; so there'll be even less disparity with Sky :)

MM I included talk unlimited with Sky so it was broadly comparable (except fibre v ADSL). Like you say, taking Sky Fibre will be an extra £12.50 but I would imagine that many customers will make do with ADSL until the fibre is more widespread (and likely cheaper) and comes as standard as with VM.

I suppose if you wanted exactly the same as pointed out by some, Sky would be £5 dearer that VIP but with unlimited downloads and more tv content.

I'm not saying either is better, like I always say, it's personal choice about cost against services required. Just like to open up the discussion!

Sky world price doesn't include ESPN which is £9 extra, and also virgin loyalty discounts need to come in to the equation.

Dearer than VM , the VIP is excellent value if you require all those services.

95.75 +
10.00 ESPN
12.50 Fibre Optic
118.25 total

Although after this season how many will pick ESPN with no EPL football.

It's also worth noting my price doesn't include unlimited calls and VM BB is faster like I say it's down to your requirements , personally I would never need half what VIP offers we're others will.

Asking because I don't know, but does that include unlimited phone calls? Not sure what the Sky Talk at £12.50 that you included covers.

Thanks MM, but I still don't understand why you haven't included the price of unlimited phone calls in the total as it is a side by side comparison.

I haven't looked recently, but it used to be £5, so that would make the total £123.25. That's a lot more than VM's VIP.
