I got fed up with it ages ago.

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
I quite liked this post about the legacy of the Olympics

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
I've just found out that the Glastonbury festival has been cancelled this due to the lack of portaloos  so for those looking for alternatives to the Olympics ...bad luck
Apparently it was announced back in 2010 so this may be old news for some Quote:

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
It is amazing how much regular stuff has been cancelled due to the olympics. For something that has often been promoted as a boost to the economy, I wonder whether that has taken into account the money lost from such cancellations.

Arsenal's Pre-season Friendly tournament has been cancelled due to the Olympics as well. Makes sense that, where we can, we focus on the Olympics. |
Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
The money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
Yes. And so could any money spent on anything we (as individuals) don't like. But that's not the point :)

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
Personally i have no interest at all in the olympics and yes i am very bored of all the hype. But that said there are far more people that are looking forward to it and i hope for them it turns out to be a great games.

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
The worlds greatest sporting events are coming to this country, bringing with it thousands of tourists who will come from over the planet, waiting to spend, spend, spend. May be come back.
Many will just watch the games, other will explore this great country. I think we have underhyped it. |
Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
I too am bored with all this hype. It's a bit of sport that is going to cripple us financially. Money we can find better uses for.
For those saying it's a once a life time event, so was the bombing of London in WW2 and that wasn't something to celebrate either. Still it keeps Lord Cole in a job. |
Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
Ah, well" the pessimists will always moan about something and the Olympics just seem to be next in the firing line.
