My thinking was that both tivos stream OD with no problem. They both link to VM, so somehow, they ought to be able to talk to each other.

Simplistic thinking though.

This was my thinking. Plug em in and off they go. :dozey:

With OD you don't have to worry about upstream, your downloading only..

OK, thanks; makes more sense to me now

This is why our TiVO should have included MOCA, like the new Premier Elite does. With VM making their own combined modem/router it would have been the perfect opportunity for another one-up over other broadband providers.

Sadly, no... :(

As the TiVo hardware would have been build last year maybe TiVo didn't have it available at that point

MOCA has been around for a dogs age! (2007, I believe) I believe that the standard was developed by Motorola and Scientific Atlanta amongst others - CiscoSA are a member of the alliance itself. Lazyness on VM's part I would guess - it would be a boon for a number of applications. But then UK cable has always been on the technological 'back foot'.

I understand that but what I was trying to get at is that Virgin can't introduce something that isn't supported by the TiVo firmware

TiVo have only just introduced MoCA with the Elite. It wasn't in the Premiere that the VM TiVo is based on, so it wasn't available for Virgin to include.

I'm guessing this wouldn't have to be an internet connected router? It would be much easier for me to buy another than cable the boxes up to where the modem is.

Has anyone had it confirmed we are going to be able to stream, I have not seen anything official in the upgrade pages on the community site.

I can't see why it would need to be, as long as the boxes can see each other on the LAN then I'd think it should work. As I mentioned earlier though, there are easier options than cabling ;)

I now have two TiVO boxes and I have the new update but it doesn't find the other TiVo box - Does the update (pilot) include Multi-Room streaming?

This is the question i have been asking, Has anyone had it confirmed that the update does indeed enable streaming, Until i see an official statement on this i am going to assume it does not. ???

No there hasn't and as I said earlier just because there is a menu option dosnt mean this is activated. The press release said that this update would build the foundations for extra features at a later date. MRS could be included or may be later no one from VM has said.

Regards

John.

I agree.

I have no intention of going out and buying any kit until i hear an official announcement that says it's coming to a tivo near me. :).

Silly question, but I take it you have both boxes connected to your LAN?

I think he was just pointing his TiVo remote to the sky and shouting "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL I HAVE MRS" :D

I would be interested in the answer to that as well Kgollop.

John.
