Yeah but were the flowers actually paid for or were the local florists relieved of them?

I'm still astounded that arrest seems to be the default action of the Police down in England and Wales. I can understand its needed to investigate but surely when it seems clear cut (known burglar in someone elses house, multiple witnesses he was robbing the place, legal owner not known for murdering people in his house) a simple 'invite' to the office and then some low key questioning till the facts can be established would be a better course of action.

but that would be far too sensible Derek and don't forget that this is England ,the red tape capital of the world

I believe that the coalition government can do something good whilst it is in power and give householders the right, that if someone breaks into your property you be be given and amnesty, if the suspect ends up seriously injured or fatal.

It is about time the law was change to allow the householder that right, l am fed up to the back teeth, of hearing stories like this, and the worst thing is the media dig up all the crap on both parties.

I understand what you are saying Arthur ,but giving people the right to seriously hurt or kill other people is wrong .Self defense is just that ,if a person feels threatened ,and the law agrees with them ,they have the right to defend themselves or members of their family in a reasonable way ,in other words if a unarmed burglar is stealing stuff and tries to run away when caught but the homeowner goes to his kitchen and gets a big carving knife and kills the burglar that is murder not self defense

Asked about the stabbing, Mr Clegg said: “The law is very clear: you have every right to defend yourself, your home, your property, your family.
“The law is really unambiguous on that and no one should feel they haven't got a right to do that.”

Got a feeling there's going to be a big surprise to come yet though.

What I'm amazed at are the comments left on FB and cards left at the scene from people who knew Jacob saying things like "he wasn't a bad lad really".

I really wonder what their definition of a "bad lad" would be.

Strange that people thought that he wasn't a bad lad , bearing in mind that he and two friends "beat a man up to a pulp" previously ... He did go to jail for it and was well known to the police as a career burglar.

Maybe his friends and relatives are all a lot worse than him which is why they thought he wasn't a bad lad.

I didn't know that the UK was a baseball playing nation ... Sales of alloy baseball bats have escalated recently to epidemic proportions ... If nobody in the house plays baseball , the bat becomes an offensive weapon.

If you accidentally hit a burglar because he walked into your bat during your indoor baseball practice , would that count as murder or would it be an accident.

Tsk. We use such things for playing rounders, obviously... ;)

One man's thug is another man's 'not a bad lad' evidently. Perhaps he was just misunderstood?....

My baseball bat is for breaking my windows in case of fire. I have a fear of hammers ;)

Pity the cretin responsible for this wasn't stabbed to death.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested over the theft of a specialist support vehicle which allows medics to attend sick children across Scotland.

The Subaru Forester 4x4 was taken from outside an on-call medic's home in Renfrewshire at the weekend.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said the vehicle had been found at a waste ground site in the Ferguslie Park area of Paisley.

She said it had been "completely burnt out" and was "totally wrecked".

It takes a special kind of idiot to steal an ambulance, to steal one clearly designed for paediatric use then burn it out instead of dumping it is beyond belief.
