Re: Health and safety and the Emergency services
I think in relation to 7/7 we have to look at it differently these were bomb attacks at the time first responders got on scene there was every reason to believe there could be more individuals or devices and rushing emergency services into the attacked areas could well have ended up costing more lives and saving none. It's a horrible way to have to think but it has to be done in those circumstances.
We have some of the most dedicated and brave people anywhere serving in our emergency services and we all know they don't do it for the money they are people who are both ready and willing to put themselves in harms way for the public. That very spirit we admire so much in our emergency services is also something they themselves have to be saved from at times as they can be a little how shall we say heart before head. Any serviceman or woman that has seen combat will know much as it kills you sometimes you can only watch as to do otherwise whilst brave won't create a happy outcome but can often create a much worse. I hate people who in hindsight become experts on what should or shouldn't have happened at certain times it's so easy in the comfort of an enviroment far removed from a days tradegy to know all the right things to do. |
