Its a range of programmable remote controls. You tell it what devices you have, and then what 'activities' you do, and it will control all those devices for that activity so you can put the old remotes in the drawer. For instance, my 'TV Lounge Cable' activity allows me to control my Sammy TV, my Amp, and my TiVo box, all from one remote, instead of using 3. Before I got one I had around 9 remote controls sitting on the desk in my lounge. Now I just use one. Once you get one, and programme it (which is quite easy), you'll wonder how you got on without one. :) |

but it's very clever in that you create 'Activities'. With one push of a button, it will switch everything on at once and set them to the right input. In my case, my 'Tivo' activity switches on my AV amp and selects the Cab/sat input and switches on the TV and selects the HDMI1 input. (I've told it I always leave Tivo switched on). On the remote itself, you tell it that the volume controls the AV amp and the Channel controls the Tivo box. You can add any Tivo, amp or TV command to the remote by adding them as touch buttons. all this is done by connecting the Harmony remote to the computer via USB and changing options in the Harmony software that you install. Best bit of kit I've ever bought! Really usefull for the current PIN situation as you can add a 'sequence', so that one button push enters your PIN number. |
Re: The Harmony remote thread
Please can anyone help.
I have a harmony 1000 which worked perfectly with my V+. I have updated to the latest firmware and setup the tivo as a cisco ct-8685 Nothing works.there is no play, stop fast fwd etc etc buttons showing howeve there is 2 rounds discs in the middle of the screen. the menu buttons are there but greyed out as is the coloured buttons. any advice please. |
Re: The Harmony remote thread
Hi
I think it may because the CT8685 is set up as a satellite - I entered my TiVo as 'VirginMedia Tivo' not Cisco CT8685 and the software searched for 'device like' and came up with a V+ (so most of the buttons were OK) I then went into the settings and changed it from a standard PVR to a TiVo and learned the extra remote buttons. I could then use this device in a 'watch TV with TiVo' activity.. All seems to work well (but it would be better if it knew the CT8685 was a TiVo to start with!) Hope this helps. |
Re: The Harmony remote thread
The CT8685 is a Tivo it doesn't matter that it shows up as a satellite receiver it has all the functions needed.

can't seem to get it to work

If so, try adding the missing commands from the Tivo remote to that activity by learning from the the actual tivo remote. I found the existing V+ activity controlled pretty much all of Tivo anyway. Off hand, if I remember correctly, the Skip forward and back need adding and Thumbs up and thumbs down. I think if you add those, you could run tivo with the V+ activity. |
Re: The Harmony remote thread
just managed to get most things sorted.
However whatever i try the grey STOP button will not appear. All other buttons like play, pause, ffwd etc etc. I have even tried learning the stop button from the original remote and calling it up manually but no joy Hmmmm any advice gratefully received. |
Re: The Harmony remote thread
Hi all,
Got my TiVo yesteday and set about programmig my Harmony One with it - have to say so far extremely easy - so thanks for anyone who have provided Logitech with additional commands. One thing I woudl say is I upgraded to version 7.7.0 (I think) searched for CT 8685 and it registered as a PVR and allowed me to specifiy it as TiVo box - so I got thumbs etc. So far not had to "learn" anything new, I was going to chaneg "Info" to "My Shows" (i did similar on the V+) but realised two pushes of "Menu" does the same job. Hope everyone else finds it as straightforward as I did :-) |
