Why would all staff need to know about TiVo? Not all staff work in a consumer role, there are thousands of staff working throughout the company who cant even get cable so why should they need to know about the entire product line?

How many people working for BT or SKY do you think know about what products they supply, I bet you very few know much except for a general overview of what the companies sell. You only ever need to know about products if it is a prerequisite of your position to have that knowledge as per my job in technical support, even when I speak to another department such as Customer Services or Customer Relations most of what I mention goes over their heads. |

Maybe its just me then , I've seen phrases like GAMECHANGER , LIGHTYEARS AHEAD OF SKY , BEST PVR , so you would expect all staff to know about it.
How many backroom Apple staff don't know what an ipad 2 is how many staff at Microsoft don't know what Windows 7 was near launch. |
