Re: New GFX Card

I'm sorry to bring this up again, but I'm lost on what to buy as an upgrade for a 8800gt OC.

I have a Q9550, only a 550w PSU, 8gb ram and at the mo the 8800gt oc still run most things on high settings at 1680x1050.

So I've looked at the 5850 toxic (£280+) and the 5770 Vapour (£150). Now I don't play many games but I do like to have things on high settings. Is it worth going all out and paying close to £300 or will the 5770 (or any recommendations) will show a marked increase in gaming.

Any help is appreciated.

the 5770 is about as good as a 4870 with the added bonus of hardware DX11 and should be adequate ,however if you can afford the 5850 just do it ;)

however why the Toxic you can save a pretty penny opting for a stock card

Cheers Zing, I think I'll go with a stock XFX 5850, which is about £100 less than a 5870 which won't fit in my tower by 1cm anyway. (Typical) (hacksaw maybe).

Is there much difference from a Sapphire version and the XFX? Seems to be about £20-30.
