Umm, ok. So you pay Virgin and they give you 'free' calls to mobiles or you pay the Post Office and they give you 'inclusive' calls to mobiles, and 0870/0845 and international for that matter.

But I think in this respect, the Post Office's "inclusive" means "free" unless I am missing something?

It is just that Virgin are saying it is 'pioneering' this and it's a 'first', yet the Post Office were giving people free/inclusive/included/not chargeable calls to mobiles a long time before VM were.

no your definately missing something.. for example ....my sons payg virgin mobile has 200mins he calls me on my vm contract or house phone he will still have 200mins .All the other companies take the minuits used for that call of the allowance of minuits or charge extra outside the allowance because it is a mobile that has been called

But there is no 'allowance' in this respect on the Post Office's landline package martyh. I know what you mean about getting x minutes free inclusive, but you don't get x number of minutes with the Post Office's landline package, you simply get free inclusive calls to mobiles from your home phone, albeit at the weekend only. It is just they don't call it free, they call it inclusive... as in 'inclusive' with your line rental.

This 'free landline to mobile calls' is exactly what Virgin are proposing to do as a 'first'. Honestly mate, it is right.

yeah i just checked and found same .some slight differences between the services but not much and obviously enough for virgin to claim it as a first which i think only applies to the xl and above package as the l package is limited to evenings and weekends and vm phones only

I know, but it's obviously to push residential customers with landlines into swapping to Virgin Mobile.

There isn't the same need to offer it to businesses as there isn't a benefit to ntl:telewest business in doing so

Business mobile products would have to be launched as a completely seperate product portfolio and most likely under the NTL Telewest Business Brand.

It would be most likely NTL Telewest Business would set up a new contract with T-Mobile/Orange to offer a complete range of converged products including:

Telephone lines
ISDN lines
Internet products
Mobile Internet and Data products
Mobile Voice services

But Business mobile services will definately not be under Virgin Mobile, not now it became part of Virgin Media, it wouldn't make sense to trade as NTL Telewest Business and offer Virgin Mobile.

I normally would agree with that, but the pricing structure for VM is carried over to the business line.. The only thing that isn't is the timed inclusive calls (such as weekends/evening..hence I asked..

Anyway MIL has a vm mobile so will do a test after they instigate it :)

Maybe also a carrot now to get people to take a landline too after using the stick for a while, to get back the hundreds of thousands of landline customers they lost when the prices kept rising and even BT became cheaper many many years back.
