Re: To Quote the council Rep "politically correct"
Well, you can tell it's Christmas, can't you? This is probably someone who mentioned out of hand, perhaps even joked about it to someone, that shouting, "two fat ladis," might embarrass the two fat ladies at the front. It then got incorrectly translated by someone else and made its way to the local newspaper, where it was picked up by a bored researcher at the BBC. It will be probably go down with the rest of the Christmas urban myths, such as Winterval and banning Christmas etc.

The meat of the story however has not changed and i see no sudden retractions to say someone got it wrong. Every now and then some council jobsworth will take offence to something and you end up with it becoming a statement of fact. This is i feel one of those cases were it will all be forgotten and taken as a big joke. The fundamental problem is that some jumped up council worker can change the rules just like that. I just wish that councils could react as quick about the real problems we have instead of taking the easy options and banning things we don't give a fly whatsit about. |

The change is being made because city council officials hope to create a more multi-cultural atmosphere in keeping with the city's mix of ethnic groups. |
