Brown's jumped on the migration bandwagon now. After years of shouting down and branding as racist xenophobes anyone who raised an objection, no matter how well reasoned, he and his spinners have concluded it's time to show how sensitive and understanding they are of these concerns and how they're going to get it right next time... After the election that is of course......

Their apologies for past mistakes ought to fall on deaf ears, they're just part of yet another cynical pre-election campaign of spin, deceit and false promises. They've had 12 years to get this matter right! It took them almost a decade to determine that the Home Office was not fit for purpose and so far as I can see very little has changed. They talk tough and sound sincere but we've seen it all too many times before and they're taking us for fools.

Rob Allen, assistant director at the UK Border Agency, said: "....If we identify marriages that do not appear to be genuine, we will challenge them and remove any foreign national in the country illegally."
Yeah right ! I wonder if this guy ever chats to his own staff, the ones who appear on Sky's Border Patrol every week spend their lives rounding up illegals then having to let them go because there is no detention space available, knowing full well that nearly all of them will simply ignore the official reporting orders issued to them and disappear all over again.....

The government get tough on immigration.

The UK Border Agency had said it believed the total number of students was "roughly the same" as last year.

But a Freedom of Information request revealed the numbers entering from those countries, thought to be hotspots for bogus students, has tripled.

The then Home Secretary Jacqui Smith promised that the new system would "raise the bar" and lead to "fewer migrants coming to the UK from outside the EU"

Officers said a significant number of those arriving on student visas had previously been denied entry to the UK, and they suspected that many had come here to work and not study.

One Heathrow-based whistleblower told the Donal MacIntyre programme that many so-called students could not speak English, and knew nothing about the courses they claimed to be studying.
Gotta love the government, they honestly couldn't be more incompetent if they tried, they just have the reverse midas touch and everything Gordon Brown wishes well ends up in flames or under 10 feet of water, sometimes both.

It wouldn't be so bad if they were just incompetent. Since Bliar created 'New Labour' they've taken the art of lies, spin, distortion and cynicism to new levels and they're still at it hoping and praying that there are enough gullible people out there to keep them in power. The only thing that surprises me about any of this is why, after all the lies, anyone would ever again believe anything Brown and his cronies say...
