1) What sort of damages?

2) Unless you have a business account which is run by ntl:telewest (the Virgin Media brand is for residential services) you can't claim for loss of business.

Well It's going to be very hard to get anything from VM - You need realise, they will have an amazing team of solicitors and barristers which will to be eat you alive. If you have the cash, as it will be very exspensive then go for it. However, it's probably worth just knocking it on the head..

Where did the £500 come from? Can you proove this? Is it loss of income? What exactly? If you can't proove every single penny, then don't bother. You can't go to moneyclaim either as you arn't allowed to claim for exspenses etc. A "no win, no fee" agent maybe able to help but dont count on it to be fair.

As BenMcr says, unless you have a NTL:Telewest account and your account is specifically a "business" account is invoicing your business, then the VM is residential only and technically "not fit" for business thus, you won't have a leg to stand on..

Phone them armed with your account number and ask them to pull up your account details. Tell them the nature of your issue, without going into any detail, and ask for an appropriate address because you wish to write to VM (always ensure you note the date/time and to whom you have spoken.) You're highly unlikely to encounter a VM phone-jockey who will be able to respond at an appropriate level and even less likely is their ability/authority to do anything about your issue.
Draft out a letter (or pay a solicitor to do it) and send it off (signed for delivery, because they have been known not to respond, even though they are obliged to do so.) Sit back and wait for a response; I believe they have an obligation to respond within 20 working days.

Best of luck.

Don't pay a solicitor... waste of money..

If you havn't got a business account then you don't have a chance on the first instance.

Secondly, you now too proove this. In the form of true figures.

As I said, before.. where did the £500 come from?

They will simply give you the standard reply "not for business" and they wont issue you anything. Not unless you have an NTL:Telewest business account.

Seems like a fairly sweeping statement to make considering the apparent ignorance; takes all sorts I suppose. I'd have thought it would ultimately depend upon the nature/details of the issue, which is why I bracketed the suggestion in the response I provided.
Regardless, a solicitior will be able to advise (more than likely for free) whether or not there is a case (or not) and if it's worth pursuing.

Which was stated by BenMcr, here:

Who are you asking (again,) me or the guy who asked the question?

You're repeating yourself (and what BenMcr said) again.

Just so you know, it's prove, not 'proove.'

All of which (bar the spelling lesson) will more than likely be superfluous anyway. Let's watch this space.

Well. You can't just say "VM cost my business £500" and not have the figures to put in front of a judge.

Yes, we will watch this space - it's pretty obvious whats going to happen anywho.
