Re: Left virgin
You ordered BOTH Sky broadband AND 50Mbit?
Why? (Actually think I know why) |
Re: Left virgin
I wait until virgin media to scrap all STM and bring 50Mbps price down to below £25 a month, then I will be BACK with virgin.

Re: Left virgin
So as I said earlier, Virgin must have been desperate to get rid of you to waive 9 months EDF charges!
Just so everyone else is clear ;) If you are in contract, ask for another service and then cancel it, it does NOT cancel your original contract ---------- Post added at 10:03 ---------- Previous post was at 10:00 ---------- So all of the other posts about 'I want 50Mbit, I can't order 50Mbit' etc were lies? |

---------- Post added at 10:06 ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 ---------- No, it isn't lies. It was true. 1st tech - couldn't do it. but 2nd tech with two men did it right. |
Re: Left virgin
Considering you ordered Sky before the 50Mbit was installed, you must not have wanted 50Mbit.
So wanting 50Mbit was a lie as you ordered Sky Broadband |

Also, knew that I won't be charged for 50Meg and will get my full £80 back if cancel within 7 days. Thanks Virgin for offer me 50Meg for 6 days and use all 35gb before it was cancel and don't have to pay for 50Meg at all. ---------- Post added at 10:16 ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 ---------- Maybe virgin management will read my post and say "oh damn it, he is a very lucky man to get away with it, we will have to change it if upgrade to 50Meg and if cancel within 7 days , the user must downgrade back to 10 meg and remain in a 9 months contract left". Too late now, far too late virgin. I must be a very lucky man indeed. |

Here's a couple of figures for you for cable costs elsewhere in Europe: UPC 60/6Mbit, no STM is 55GBP/month Comhem 50/10Mbit, with performance range of 25-50Mbit/7-10Mbit is 36GBP/month and this is in Sweden. Both of these countries have a much lower cost of living than the UK, yet one the product is more expensive overall, the other it's more expensive if you don't take a phone line. Notice the higher upstream on both the products, probably in part due to the extra profit margins on there. VM will probably improve over time with this product but it's still very new so the prices are bound to be high, and it's bound to be rushed as they're trying to keep costs minimal. It's just amusing that for all the things the UK pays through the nose for people jump up and down screaming if they're asked to pay more than the cost of a couple of beers a week for a service many use each and every day. Sky are cheap as the broadband is a loss maker to retain TV customers. O2 ditto but with mobile. Oh yes United States too: Comcast 50Mbit/10Mbit - 130GBP/mth Comcast 22Mbit/5Mbit - 68GBP/mth Charter 60Mbit/5Mbit - 96GBP/mth I found one in North America that isn't too far outside the required price though: Videotron 50Mbit/1Mbit - 45GBP/mth Though it does have a 100GB/mth bitcap and per GB billing over it. |

If you want mega-speed broadband, then you have to expect to pay for it. Nothing in this world is free - and that includes Sky broadband and O2 broadband. |
