Well i guess this makes it a virtual certainty that ITVHD will be 1 of the 4 HD channels coming within the next 3 months. I hope they dont count ITV On Demand as 1 of the HD channels though!

Come on branson, spill the beans on the 4 channels!

In theory it could happen, I say this as Five signed a deal with BT vision not so long ago for catch-up. Unfortunately a direct comparison probably isn't really there as BT Vision charge for it.

I know this will sound rather sad but is there any plans for Pulse TV to join Virgin Media anytime soon? The reason I ask is Pulse will have RQW Wrestling on from February and I used to watch it on The Wrestling Channel on Sky before it was bought by the now dead Fight Network.

They might...there isn't enough ITV HD content to warrant a full blown channel. Even on freesat, ITV don't have a proper HD channel. There is the possiblity also that VM may use the same system as on freesat to access ITV HD, ie by pressing the red button. A hidden "channel" is currently testing which would facilitate this. Although I'm sure it would be available through the menus too.

VM announced last year that they intend to rebrand all/some of their channels along with the UKTV ones. Once all the UKTV channels have been done, I'd expect VM's own channels to be next. This channel launching just guarantees a position on the EPG for the "new" channel.

VM may be about to implement new security measures on their tv platform. Two hidden "channels" have appeared in the hidden engineering menus called:

Ch 510 - Security Fraud Message
Ch 808 - Yon have non-standard equipment

This may be a prelude to VM checking for dodgy stbs on their network and/or upgrading their conditional access system.

Not sad at all, mate. Many of us around here and on DS.co.uk were uneasy about TNA Wrestling being on TWC, and Virgin/ntl:Telewest not carrying it... and then it went to Bravo2, which the ntl: side of the company didnt carry for a month or so.

Even better news, if you ask me.

Come on, man. They just got ITV... that was hard enough.

TBH, there isnt much on Five they could put on. Its full of the odd diamond in the rough, but there is a lot of rough on Five.

Sorry - interpreted 'A selection of ITV’s High Definition (HD) programming will also be available on demand, adding to Virgin Media’s growing and popular list of HD content as part of the UK’s leading TV on demand service.' to mean we would get the full (although ITV HD not on all the time) service.

Absolutely. But when has vod stuff happened immediately? There was a great fanfare when iPlayer launched on cable, in reality it took them months to stagger up the content.
