Well it is the 50mb trial modem but it will not be the one that will be finally released to everyone.

Er yes it will. The funky one IS the final modem for the 50Mb launch.

As I said before the Dudley trial is with the final hardware. This includes the customer equipment

Well what did they expect using the cheapest tackiest ambit? ;):D

The motorola ones play very nice though ;)

Re: Guess what this is.

Why would Virgin spend time and money getting Ambit to customise a modem if they weren't going to use it?

As for it being a brick, it is a different physical modem to the ones used for the trials in Kent and as far as I know hasn't been deployed outside Virgin itself

As far as I am aware the Ambit is the final release

So are people seriously saying that Virgin are going to issue a modem, and then replace it near enough straight away??!

Re: Guess what this is.

are we assuming the alternative modem can support upstream channel bonding either out of the box or in the future ?

Maybe, but new motorolas are being used in new trials (select areas)

Prefer them over the ambit regardless.

I know...it's not as nice as the ambit one...but at least it supports upstream bonding ;)

Bonded Downstream and Upstream as standard and futureproof IPv6 compatible as well.
