there is a new police station about 300 meters from my house ,it was built after public out cry , it sits opposite some sheltered housing [old folk live there] the oldies where being targeted by **** ,windows smashed ,fires started ,robbed , mugged the list is endless, any how this police station was promised and was built right at the seat of the trouble ,it was to be open 24/7 with patroles and beat coppers day and night ,great we thought . WRONG! it opens at 8 am and closes at 5pm, it serves no purpose ,which imo sums up policing these days. a total wast of money, and the **** still there still terrorising people ,untouchable and ruling the streets.

No, just blue lights flashing as far as I am aware and sirens come under the same law as a horn, they're not allowed to be used after 11pm and before 7 (or something like that)

Interesting. The blue lights still allow them to scarper though sadly.

They should bring back kneecappings that will soon sort them out. Once a few of them have been sorted the rest will think twice.

Yes it's a bit messy and violent bit it would do the trick.

So if they sneaked up on them on foot wearing slippers they would have found half a dozen lads... Then what?

'WHO DID IT?' (Police)

'DIDNT SEE ANYTHING, THE WINDOWS JUST WENT!' (Victims)

'WHO DID IT?' (Police)

'NOT ME!' (Suspects)

'MOVE ON' (POLICE)

Brink back?

As if they were ever legally 'here' & then outlawed so to be 'brought back' ...!!
Hardly along the same lines of capital punishment or national service is it?

Don't be so ridiculous.

Well it could be effective ;)

I am not exactly known for my soft stance on crime and punishment but even i think talk of kneecappings is ridiculous and won't be effective. You have a gang wandering around kneecapping people they feel are causing a problem and your different from any other group of thugs how exactly???. What we need is for the police officers we have in this country to be freed from the desks they have to sit behind too much and get them out and about ON FOOT. Sorry but a car driving past is no good we need the police out on foot with a couple of cars to respond very quickly to emergency incidents.

talked to a fellow muso who is also by day a local copper but not in our district has previously worked it.
he says the police are just as frustrated with the power being drained, the over the top PC society, the rise of the charva ******* and the lack of parental control.
however they're overworked and understaffed cos the most recent school leavers do not wanna be in the police force cos its hard work, they'd rather be dealers.

During the day we have a couple of police officers on bikes round here and it's mostly quiet. In fact it's usually moribund in my section of town anyway.

Lately during the evenings however it's got a lot noisier than usual. In fact last week there was a shouting match with a gang of teenagers fuelled by booze/drugs and in the end it took me and my two next door neighbours and the one across the road to get them to go home...Mind I suspect it was the two by four one of my neighbours was carrying that did the trick.

My other immediate neighbour had called the police but long before they may have turned up it was over..So I don't know IF they turned up.I must ask her the next time I see her.

Been no trouble since.

No they aren't the same as a horn (in any case having a two-tone or musical horn on a normal car is an offence) and can be used any time of day or night if the situation requires, and they don't need to be on when doing blue-light calls.

Still I see a few people are amazed at how the Police react to things, comments like

are not especially helpful. If you think you could do a better job why not apply to be a special? I'm sure most local forces would be glad to have your input and experience.

Considering in most areas approx £200 from every household goes to the police, is it really too much to ask that they perform their responsibilities in an effective manner rather than in whatever way results in the least hassle and paperwork for them?
Should we really have to give up our free time on top of the £200 in order to get a good police force?

I phoned the police because a wanted criminal was outside hacking at a tree with a machette.
An hour later they arrived, with siren and lights going (in a traffic free cul-de-sac) so of course he bolted and they were unwilling to go hunt for him.

I had a kid throw a rock through my car windscreen, witnessed by neighbours who were willing to give a statement to the police.
Two turned up, I directed them to my neighbours who were waiting up for the police, and they just didn't bother knocking on their door, despite having to pass their house on the way back to their car.
27 incidents I had reported involving attacks on my house, and not one was being investigated.

My Mum was a Special Constable some odd 40 years ago. She was only 4ft 11ins but wouldn't take any lip off anyone. I was mortified when I heard that she had frog marched one of the local 'hard boys' into the public toilets and washed his mouth out with soap after he had been swearing at her.

He sort my Father and I out at her funeral to tell us that her actions that day had helped turn his life around and that he could well have ended up in prison.

If she had tried to do that to-day she would have lost her job and been facing charges and that would only be if she survived the confrontation.

SNIP

I mentioned it seeing a lot of people seem to think all the Police do is sit about drinking coffee, eating cakes and sighing loudly whenever they have to attend a call. The job is completely different to most peoples idea of what it involves. As is mentioned in new officer training up and down the land. "It isn't like the bill"

So out of these 27 incidents and poor response time, have you complained to the local force regarding them? If so what was their answer?
