exactly my point.

it appears this guy took his own life because he was afraid the bad things he had been doing were about to be exposed too

do you think its a big coincidence that THERE IS NO EVIDENCE HE JUMPED says the inquest..I wonder if they would say that if he were an ordinary joe bloggs off the street, having said that i really feel for his family. I've lost my hubby and i know the loss but to have a cloud over things must be an extra burden

An affair about to be exposed (may be the reason) that doesnt make him a bad person and certainly shouldnt mean he be compared to Fred West!

It is not an uncommon illness to have.

Firstly, I never said he should have been sacked. 'Removing' him from his post could equally have applied to putting him on compassionate leave at least until his personal problems had been resolved, possibly even with the counselling you advocate.

And a suicidal chief constable is not a man or woman I would want in charge of my local police force. He or she simply has too many responsibilities and faces too many pressures especially if also dealing with personal problems. I am very much in favour of depressed and suicidal people being helped, but in the case of public servants, not at the expense of their public duties.

And I know mental illness is not uncommon.
