Should that not be Peter H of Neath? I pass his house twice a week.

That must play havoc with the piles.

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "bricking oneself"

My apologies, Russ, I was going by what his entry in the Register of Member's Interests says. Not sure this is a reliable source, on second thoughts:

He's probably got a 40 room mansion in Buckinghamshire he's too busy to tell us about.

Well, if Presser could be too busy to remember to pay his council tax, should we let Hain have a bit of leeway?

Er no. Definitely not.

Well I do at least have some sympathy for Prescott, I mean his excuse that he was too busy to be diligent is backed up by his vast contribution to this nation via the enormous list of personal achievements I've collated below:

Re: Should Peter Hain resign?

My only surprise is that it's taken so long for this to surface but then from what I heard on the radio this morning the donation was declared to the electoral commission just not listed on his members interests for reasons which will become clear. Still not good though.

Hugh 13-01-2008 15:33

Re: Should Peter Hain resign?

The reasons were, from the article "Mr Cameron said the Conservatives had sought advice from Commons officials on whether to also declare the money to the members' register - and been effectively told they did not have to.
Mr Osborne is now seeking a ruling from the Commons standards committee on the matter."

And from the Sunday Mail story
"He said that Commons registrar Alda Barry told him last month that he did not need to name the seven donors. Mr Osborne said there were emails to back up his position.

But yesterday, after this newspaper obtained the donors' names, the Shadow Chancellor said that Ms Barry had now admitted she could have been wrong. 'I was told that my declarations were in order,' he said in a statement. 'Ms Barry has now told us that her initial advice may have been unclear.
'These donations are to the Conservative Party, they are openly declared and we have followed the rules as they were explained to us.
'All the donations over £5,000 have been declared to the Electoral Commission and are available for all to see on their website, as the law requires.' Ms Barry declined to comment last night. "

Yes and if it's true then he has nothing to worry about.

The question is, if he does resign, how long will it be until he's back?
2 weeks?
A month?

Re: Should Peter Hain resign?

Doubt he'll be back, Xac, for the reasons in this post:

Not enough friends in the party.
