The alternate ending is much better than the actual one and is what i was expecting to happen, why they didn't use it i don't know.

It's gonna be on the DVD & BD release, AFAIK (alternate ending).

There is not one on the R1 single disc version you have to buy the 2 disc special that has the ending and a different version. Same is true with the R2 however there is no mention of the alternative ending although the different version is mentioned so Id gather its on the R2 2 disc special

Well I've just got the audio book (having not read it before - in print either I mean).

It's going to be a long time since I've seen the film before I've read the book.

Hopefully it won't spoil the film too much :)

For some reason this film escaped me until today (which is freaky as the last post was exactly a year ago today in this thread). I think it was really good, if not a little scary for daytime viewing. The dog was cool, apart from when he had to kill it - proper made me cry :erm:
