grr, maybe the car owner is just peeved cos top gear wrecked his 'car' or that he might get prosecuted for building a stupid ott vehicle and letting someone else drive it after ooh what a half hour briefing?

Re: Top Gear is back!

Well the owner did say it was partly Hammond's fault by "failing to adhere to the briefing" so he obviously did a briefing and told him what to do in the event of the car having problems. In the end it was Hammond's decision to drive the car, i doubt the owner forced him to drive it.

I'm just saying why bother moaning about it now? :o:

the only people looking to point a finger are the health and safety executives investigating it still. or maybe the owner hasn't been compensated enough...

To be perfectly honest, its the way the owner put it to cover himself that made him seem like a "jerk" it may not have intended that way, what is certain is that Hammon wasn't prepared for any eventuallity and not being the owner of the car didn't know what to look out for "problems" I recorded last night's episode and watched the crash over a few times and you can see the Tyre about to go, and I suspect if he had shut off the engines and launched the parachutes (if he had been aware) then it would have been a million times less serious. But the owners of those sorts of vehicles know what is going on, they know when something is wrong, but Hammond only ever had 3 goes in it.

In my opinion he's not at all, he's right. All that he is basically saying is that the crash could have been prevented or wouldn't have been so bad if Hammond had done what he had been told to do in his briefing. The owner is saying that Hammond 'stood on the brakes' when he was told not to do that. I don't think he's having a go at Hammond but just saying that the crash wasn't his fault.

And for those who missed it, or whose PVR, TV drive, VCR or whatever didn't work. It's on VOD :tu:

I've watched it a few times (and it gives me the chills every time), I can't see what Hammond could have done differently. There was very little warning that the tyre was going to delaminate, it was a catastrophic failure. I wonder to what speed the tyres were designed to go.

Don't miss episode two tonight!

It’s business as usual this week on Top Gear.

We perform a public service by smashing a really big train into an aging French people carrier. Trust us, it’ll all make sense when you see it.

James makes the definitive bid to rid himself of his ‘Captain Slow’ nickname, by attempting to max-out the 252mph Bugatti Veyron at Volkswagen’s top secret test-track.

An A-list Hollywood star comes to our studio and has a ride in our distinctly C-list reasonably priced car.

And Jeremy, Richard and James try to decide on the best small coupe by taking the latest offerings from Audi, Mazda and Alfa Romeo to two of their natural habitats – a design museum and a golf course.
Sounds good! :) :tu:

Anyone watched it? To be honest I thought the Audi looked the best.
