I see his arrival has started speculation on who will be next, already I've seen Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo etc mentioned, seem's like the lessons from the 70's may have been forgotten

BECKHAM REAL CAREER OVER

David Beckham will never play for Real Madrid again, according to the club's Italian coach Fabio Capello.

The former England captain, 31, has agreed a move to LA Galaxy in the USA when his contract in Spain expires at the end of June.

But Capello has apparently ruled out any chance of Beckham playing a role for his side in the remaining months of his contract.

"Beckham will train with the team but he won't play," Capello told a press conference on Saturday.

His omission from Real's plans is sure to draw interest from clubs looking for a short-term loan deal, or Galaxy could even look to take him to California in time for the start of the MLS season in April.

Capello added: "The decision of the player is to go to Los Angeles, he has always been a great professional, but a player who has such an important contract with another club, we cannot count on him. He is not going to play any more."

Yep, not bad for a lad from Leytonstone :)

However, the $250M figure being bounded about assumes that all their targets are met, as he's not really get $50M p/year per se - there's a lot of it which isn't guaranteed. For example, he's getting all his endorsement money, unlike his Real Madrid deal, plus he gets a cut of the shirt sales, and he gets a proportion of the ticket sales.

If things go to plan then he'll make the $250M, but I think that's quite a big if. Soccer isn't anywhere near as big in the US as it is in Yur-Up. Even David Beckham will have a hard time raising its profile. Americans love baseball, grid-iron and basketball - I don't think the media will be on his side to help out.

Still, he's onto a nice little earner whatever happens, it's just I don't think it'll be $250M.

If you half say it like that, then you might as well say it fully

Americans love the diamond, grid-iron and the hardwood ;)
