Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
According to the intarweb:
Short for unspecified bit rate, or Class D quality of service, an ATM bandwidth-allocation service that does not guarantee any throughput levels and uses only available bandwidth. UBR is often used when transmitting data that can tolerate delays. I think the network is saturated? |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
You both seem to be on the same ubr but you will be on different cards i will have a look in the morning :)

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
You should try the broadband medic chat help, its alot better and alot quicker and alot more understandable. Really cant fault it tbh i talked with a guy at about 8:30pm and got answered within 5 mins (oh and its completly free :D)

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Im in lincoln to on 10mb and its been awful tonight, so bad in fact that i gave up and watched telly instead!
Ive noticed it like this for a good few weeks now. |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
My speeds have been ok all night, about 3.5-3.8 so we'll see how it goes today. I tried to do a traceroute to the BBC but I get this...
C:\>tracert bbc.co.uk Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.228.155] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 Destination host unreachable. Trace complete. Which is a bit odd, I have tried it on other sites and it does start doing it but ends up timing out. Not sure why. My browser and everything seems to be working ok though, must be a problem with my set up maybe. |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
I thought that too but last nights trace route basically blew my 'only happens during peak hours' claim out the water, it does get worse and significantly noticable during peak hour but the problem exists even now, when using ping plotter my first hop is ranging from 5-50ms which is just not normal, a range of 5-10ms would be alot more normal.

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Nope all turned off but maybe could have something to do with my router? maybe? I'm not sure.
It seems to time out on every site except the beeb where it just won't even start. Tried Ping Plotter and on the beeb it just says destination address unreachable. Strange as I have no problem going to the website. I'm going to keep on the speedtests today and see if goes wobbly. |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
im not sure buddy as i dont have a router, my only other thought would be if your using a proxy, you will know because you have manually enter the IP for the proxy in internet settings.
---------- Post added at 11:30 ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 ---------- Just had a PM from Ned, Sneck. He was right the UBRs are full and he said he has notified the right guys, he will let us know when they are going to fix it. PS Cheers Ned :) |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Nice one and thanks Ned.

Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Well I've been doing a few speedtests today and at the minute I'm getting between 2.5 and 3mb which is a lot better than this time yesterday but still lower than I was getting this morning.
At least I can browse properly now though. |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
Must admit my connection seems alot better than yesterday too, i can even play BF2142 but ping plotter still reports the same issue with my first hop, makes me wonder how long this problem has been going on tbh.
I did notice this on the NTL status: On the morning of Tuesday the 28th November between midnight and 6 AM, Network optimisation will result in a loss of service in the Acton, Poplar, Northampton, Coventry, Luton, Nottingham, Reading, CArdiff and the surrounding areas. Maybe they will sort out the UBRs then |
Re: ALL IN LINCOLN AREA
If so we can look forward to a slow weekend.
