it also works with themes too.:D

If you are upgrading from v1.5 or lower, I wouldn't recommend using it on themes, as the themes probably won't be suitable for v2 ;)

I installed this yesterday and I'm impressed. The 'close' button on each tab is the most immediate difference, and I like it except when I forget and go to click on the right hand end of the tab bar!

I have also noticed it handles antialiased text on a TFT monitor much better than 1.x did, however it sometimes renders the bottom of the page slightly more slowly than 1.x did when I rapidly scroll downwards.

Just gave it a quick whirl : Its fast a little slicker but top heavy on memory as described on wikipedia.

7241 root 15 0 155m 59m 21m S 0.0 7.9 1:02.83 firefox-bin
6777 root 15 0 173m 34m 5244 S 1.3 4.6 2:44.89 Xorg

Hell thats more than the Xserver

Back to 1.5 I go.

Thought you guys might be interested in some of these FF2 tweaks...

In particular, CrC-3rr0r may be interested in this tweak...

Limit RAM usage

All versions: Goodness knows I've done a good amount of belly-aching about Firefox's voracious appetite for RAM. (It's consistently the most memory-intensive process on both my PC and Mac.) Happily a simple config tweak got Mem Use right back down to a more comfortable number. Along with the previous prefetch mod, set your browser.cache.disk.capacity to a value that fits your total RAM.

* Key: browser.cache.disk.capacity
* Modified Value: Depends on your system's total memory. According to Computerworld:

For RAM sizes between 512BM and 1GB, start with 15000. For RAM sizes between 128MB and 512M, try 5000.

Installed it earlier (cleanly after backing up my bookmarks etc.), then whacked on the excellent Adblock Plus & NoScript.

I like it so far.

Only thing I wasn't keen on was how they've changed the location bar search - if you enter keywords in the location bar, & hit enter/Go, it no longer does a Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" search, but does a "Browse By Name" search instead.

As I'm now very used to the old method, I did a quick Google & found a solution:

Anyway, I’m not sure if I like it yet. In principle it does seem like a good idea, and I’m going to leave it alone for a bit to see if I can get used to it. If you can’t, though, it’s easy enough to fix: just go to about:config and change the keyword.URL property from its default value,

http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-...ient&gfns=1&q=

to something like

http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&btnI=&q=

which should restore the “I’m Feeling Lucky” functionality and get you back to normal.
