So if you have the:
Domain & have written a very basic HTML website (yes me) Then all id need to do is buy some webspace? and save my HTML coding in the webspace?
I bought my domain from 123reg its www.pop80.co.uk but currently points to nothing but a blogger standard page.
Anyone help?

You'd just need to buy some space, point your existing domain name to it, & upload your site.

Have a look at the I-Web link posted earlier in the thread. Very cheap, lots of features, & their support & customer services are excellent.

Sheridan.

From the link that I've posted twice now:

First of all you will need an FTP client. We recommend
WS_FTP, but almost any FTP client will be sufficient.
Your FTP login details will have been sent to you when you
signed up for your account. You can submit a support ticket,
in the members center,to have these details re-emailed to
yourselves. The details normally look like

Server : mydomain.com
username : myadminname
password : thepasswordichose
You need to use your FTP software to upload your files to the public_html folder.

Re: ftp web site space

Does it give you an option to view the structure of the existing files/folders before you upload?

Re: ftp web site space

when you were uploading to your ntlworld space did you type-
ftp://upload.ntlworld.com or upload.ntlworld.com ?

You will either need to include the ftp:// or not with your i-web account the same as you did with the ntlworld space. You will find a folder named public_html on your webspace- and this is where you need to put the documents that you wish to be public (ie the htm/ html files and images etc)

I think the software is asking for the absolute path to the specific folder for the upload.

Would it be something like mydomainname.com/public_html/ ?

I'm thinking that it might be easier to just use this software for the creation of the site and then use something like FileZilla for the actual upload.....

Re: ftp web site space

If you go to the Control Panel for your web hosting, and then click on the file manager option you will probably find that your files have just been uploaded to totally the wrong place on the server.....

You should be able to see where they are, and then use the control panel's File Manager to put them in the right place (public_html).

Did you upload the files seperately or as one big directory? If as one directory, what was the directory/folder called?

Sheridan,

Ok, here goes

Ftp address : 66.199.245.98
Username : Username as per your welcome mail
Password : Password as per your welcome mail

Put your files into the public_html directory... You will see this once you have connected your FTP client.

You are currently using the wrong password (i have removed a block on your IP) Please make sure your FTP password is correct before you attempt to upload again.

I don't think Sheridan is using an ftp client as such, it seems to be a site creation tool.

Not sure if it will allow him to choose a directory, he may need to specify one explicitly.

If that's the case would it be:

IPADDRESS/public_html/

?
