Re: Do you work for NTL?
I did, and I didn't realise how bad things were until I left.
I was asked a couple of weeks ago as a bit of a joke, if I fancied applying for a job they were unable to fill :Yikes: The second word was Off! It was funny really, as no one currently working for ntl and capable of doing the job would take the promotion. They all knew it would be promotion into a position on a last in first out basis, and they are all expecting further cuts in the department. Poor morale at the level it is with most ntl employees in ntl is impossible to put right :( |

Re: Do you work for NTL?
I really don't think the management believe there are any issues with morale, but from my own experience, and from interactions with other associates, it is at absolute rock bottom. There is great resentment and disbelief when we are sent group emails telling us how great things are and how were investing in associates and our network, because at shop floor level this couldn't look further from the truth. This makes management look completely unattached from what is going on, creates resentment and helps develop the deep rooted untrust in the ntl management which has grown steadily over the last five years.
Now don't get me wrong, I know ntl is a company and the only (or at least the main) reason for its existence is to make money for it's shareholders, but to do it in such a callous way and with such disregard for it's staff just ain't cricket! |

Re: Do you work for NTL?
I am sure most people who worked for the old franchised companies before ntl bought them out will agree that everything went pear shaped once ntl got involved. For instance, Comcast was an outstanding company to work for and as such received loyalty and dedication from it's staff. Two things which simply do not exist in ntl.
The internal campaigns launched by ntl to increase morale amongst it's associates and increase productivity have exactly the opposite affect. As I've stated previously it just underlines the ignorance of the management towards the feelings of their staff and causes frustration and resentment. Associates are left wondering how much money was spent on the latest campaign whilst also pondering why they aren't even receiving a cost of living pay rise - not a good combination. I am no business guru but to me a happy workforce is a productive workforce. |

I always have the view that good morale is very easy to loose, and turning this back around to good morale is almost impossible to achieve. I guess the steady and constant shafting that some departments have experienced from management will mean morale will never significantly improve, and that means customer satisfaction will never attain the levels it should. |
