I recon the printers 'chip' was a bit confused? Wierd! :confused: Maby the PC interrogating the printer during the fresh install did the job.......

Yep, sounded like the USB controller in the printer had its knickers in a not. A combination of things will have cleared it.

Leving the power off long enough for anything stored in the buffer to clear.
Removing the devices from the PC will have allowed the PC to re-discover things from scratch.
Rebooting the PC without the USB cable will have helped the PC to sort itself out.

Interestingly, I left the printer power unplugged all night to no avail. The problem was occurring on both PC's so it had to be stemming from the printer. The re-install must have changed something internally in the printer to make it work again........so the usb controller must have been the source of the problem.
