Re: Towel Care?
For reasons which are unclear to me, this sort of heater is apparently not recommended for drying towels.

Re: Towel Care?
My poor sis has SIX sons - 4 at school and 2 at work - plus her husband - I dread to think how many shirts she does in a week! :Yikes:
Plus the 2 older boys change into another shirt for 'evening wear'! Towels? Well I used to find that if I dried them indoors they would soften up with 10 minutes in the dryer with one of those softener sheet things in there. I'm allergic to most fabric conditioners and washing powders/liquids too, i find that Surcare is good when my skin flares up, apart from that any non bio liquid will do and a hypo allergenic fabric conditioner - most places do them nowadays. (Can't believe I'm posting on a domesticated type thread!) |

I also find giving massages more relaxing than recieving them. Did I mention I'm single? :D |

Do not wash towels sold as microfibre with fabric conditioner. The best towel, imo, is a fresh cotton 'terry' washed 60-70°C, pure soap or non bio, then dried outside - it feels rough at first, but soaks up like nothing else:) |
Re: Towel Care?
The hotter you wash the towel the stiffer it seems to end up, though like many have said - it does depend on the towel. I also think how well rinsed the towel is and how wet they are (i.e spin them well) has something to do with it. I wash bedding and towels at 60. Occasionally I do towels at 90 if they're a bit mouldy smelling. I can't iron - it's a waste of electricity anyway. Think of the environment.

I dry my towels in the hot press, never had a crusty one yet :)

Re: Towel Care?
If you take a really hot shower, the water will just evaporate off your body. This way you don't need a towel at all, and you won't need to consider all these difficult options. Some kind off dressing will probably be required though :erm: , but that's another thread...

Re: Towel Care?
I can't believe it!
Three pages and 45 pages of messages on Towels and *nobody* has yet mentioned the Hitch Hiker's Guide...! Whereas 1) I have, 2) I know where *my* towel is and 3) it *is* the official HHGTTG Towel! :PP: |
