I can understand them being upset with him for announcing taking a new job a few days before the World Cup starts but sacking him seems excessive. As long as he put his all into the tournament I don't see why it would have been an issue.

The phrase shooting yourself in the foot springs to mind.

Quite a few international managers over the years at the major tournaments go to new club jobs after the tournament ends so yes l think the Spanish FA reaction is a bit OTT that is for sure.
