Pity he didn’t say that ten years ago.

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Is that the same Gideon Osborne that screwed it all up years ago? :p:
|
Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Osborne was Remain.
Politicians don't want to confront it because it's politically unwise to tell people they were wrong, and they don't want to come up with a solution. What has actually been achieved by Brexit? We made it more difficult and expensive to trade with the EU, but we didn't get the trade deals we were promised. What did we do with all the regulatory freedom? Little. Even where we don't have the regulation, such as the bottles on water caps, we get it anyway because multinationals find it easier to just sell the same product across Europe including the UK. |
Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
I was really looking forward to taking my holidays in the sunlit uplands, but still can't book anything near and still have to fly halfway round the world for the good weather. Very disappointing, I feel they lied to us about the weather along with all the other benefits ;)

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Brexit hasn’t worked as it should because the government hasn’t bothered to implement it. We are still subject to EU legislation. What happened to the ‘bonfire of regulations’? Kemi herself was meant to oversee that, so what happened, Kemi?

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Brexit was turned into a farce by those that didn't really want it (in fact were told by the experts it wouldn't happen), but had to be seen to be following the majority vote to leave the EU.
Which surely shows nobody should trust a politician of any party to 'do their best' |

It’s alway fun to hear the "true believers" refrain of "A big boy didn’t do it and ran away" rather than face the reality of it’s impossible to satisfy an ill-defined* and non-specific set of aims besides the all-encompassing "Leave the EU"… *deliberately |

Some EU regulations we keep because there is little point in changing them, as companies still want to produce products that they can sell into the EU. Why change it when it's what you've been doing so and in changing it all you're doing is limiting where you can sell your product? In other cases, we could change it, but it would be in order to sell to the United States and in some cases like that, our farmers are opposed because it undercuts them. All of this was evident before the referendum. We said, even in threads on here, about who else you would sell to if you decide to cut out the EU? Complete self-sabotage. And all the proponents of it still pontificate without any shame about how things should be done now. |
Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
EU will implode within the next 12 months, better off out of it :D

Like I said, it's going slowly.
I'm surprised somebody like you hasn't noticed the subtle changes ;) |

Those subtle changes? |

*Considering that at the speed things go, it would be another 5 years minimum until we rejoined . . unless the EU begged for us to come back (or more likely refused us because we'd add to their problems) |
Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Go on then. Give us specific examples of where the EU is imploding.

For a Brexit supporter who finds a spare £36m down the back of one of their sofas, being £400 better off is a bit like me finding an extra wine gum in the glove compartment! But to me and a lot of British families, £400 makes a lot of difference. |
Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Sorry, didn't know you'd all had a £400 pay cut mate. Was that £400 a month or £400 a year?
. . . or is it not actually a pay cut you've had and more to do with the present (Labour) Government messing with income tax and National Insurance ;) |
