Looks like Spurs may bite the dust as well, 1 - 0 down to Sheff Utd, only added time left.

Wow, we might even do this.

First time we scored 4 in a PL game since... a 4-3 win against Southampton in August 1994...

What's happened with the Man City investigation an 113 charges?

IIRC it could mean them being stripped of many League titles as well as being kicked out of the league.

It's all gone too quiet

That means Ethan Horvath has been the winning goalkeeper at the end of 2 successive Championship play off finals

Good luck to them, though KW will be insane in the PL, and they are going to need a lot of investment to avoid going straight down again

Indeed Luton have done amazing when one considers where they were a few years ago, sadly l think they will find it very hard to stay up there unless they recruit very well.

They don't have the money we have either - or the ground.

Some people still make a fuss about the number of players Forest brought in but Luton will probably need a similar number given that you need squad players as well as a good enough first team. Our key players were on loan and not many of last season's squad were good enough to play in the PL and they don't really have many who I think would be threatening enough at the higher level.

They need to invest but do they have the resource to?

No they certainly don't have the resources that is for sure but neither did my home town Plymouth Argyle but with a much lesser budget then some other of the other teams in the same division but with smarter recruitment they became League One champions.

Well done Luton, but I think you're going to find it tough to stay up.

Re: Season 22-23

Long and tiring day out for my 3rd Wembley visit this season. My brother in Woking is on holiday so my regular long weekend away was not possible. I went down on the subsidised coach from Old Trafford. At £50 it was cheaper than driving myself. Up at 6.00am, drove to Old Trafford, left there at 7 30am. The traffic in London was horrendous, got in my seat just 15 minutes before kick off, yes in time to see the 1st goal. United gave it a good go and were not embarrassed but in reality always 2nd best on the day. At least I was there for the first ever Manchester derby in the FA Cup.

I'm waiting for Man City to be stripped of titles and dumped out of the football league for breaking the 113 rules.

But I won't be holding my breath

Re: Season 22-23

They apparently broke 113 rules and the investigation is dragging it's heels.

iadom 04-06-2023 18:23

Re: Season 22-23

Don't think it was 113 different rules tbh. According to various reports it's either 113 or 115 breaches of various ffp rules. It will be interesting to see if this ever comes to a conclusion. City's highly paid lawyers eventually got UEFA to back off even though the emails and other documents the German press had uncovered seemed to be a smoking gun at the time. City and their lawyers are doing everything they can to delay proceedings by raising several objections to the proposed chair of the investigation who happens to be an Arsenal supporter. They have also objected to several of the alleged misdemeanours. I suppose it depends how much the Premier league is prepared to throw at it all.

---------- Post added at 18:23 ---------- Previous post was at 18:17 ----------

I must add that as a lifelong United supporter you would think that I would be rubbing my hands at this, far from it. I am not sure I ever agreed with the introduction of the FFP rules in the first place as it was obviously done to try and protect an elite rather than for the good of football in general.

Re: Season 22-23

Same as VAR.

I think VAR probably contributed in all 4 matches Man U beat us in this season - though I don't think we were good enough to win any of them anyway. Sam Surridge being called offside by millimetres, and that Maguire hand ball which would be given against most teams...

Having looked it up, I think fines, and maybe points deduction, are the worst that will happen.
They are certainly not going to be stripped of titles, or expelled, anyone hoping for that is delusional.

Fines aren't exactly going to be much of a punishment. Any points deduction must be enough to rule them out of even the Europa League tournament and make that last for a few years.
No point having the rules, if the punishments are meaningless.

England won the European Under 21 Championship.

They last won it almost 40 years ago (in 1982 & 1984).
